  1. 01An electronic travel authorization (eTA) obtained before boarding a flight to Canada — required of visa-exempt nationals, which includes most EU and UK passport holders; US citizens need neither an eTA nor a visa
  2. 02Proof of sufficient funds for the stay, of ties abroad and of an intention to leave at the end of the authorised period
  3. 03Admission is granted by a border services officer, not by the eTA: the standard grant is six months, and the officer may write a shorter or longer period in the passport
  4. 04No work for a Canadian employer and no entry into the Canadian labour market; an extension is requested from inside Canada before the authorised stay expires

  1. 01At least one year of continuous full-time skilled work experience (or the part-time equivalent) in the last 10 years, in an occupation in TEER category 0, 1, 2 or 3 of the National Occupational Classification, performing the lead statement and a substantial number of the main duties including all essential duties
  2. 02Results of an approved language test, less than two years old, from a designated organisation, meeting the minimum benchmark the Minister has set for the class
  3. 03A Canadian educational credential, or a foreign credential plus an equivalency assessment from an organisation designated by the Minister
  4. 04Transferable and available funds unencumbered by debt equal to at least half the low income cut-off for the family size, unless the applicant has arranged employment in Canada
  5. 05At least the minimum number of points on the six-factor selection grid (education, language, experience, age, arranged employment, adaptability) — the pass mark is fixed by the Minister and published, not set in the Regulations
  6. 06An intention to reside in a province other than Québec; Québec runs its own skilled-worker selection

  1. 01A nomination certificate issued by a province under a nomination agreement in force with the federal Minister at the time of nomination
  2. 02The nomination must be made in accordance with provincial selection criteria that the federal Minister has approved in writing
  3. 03The nomination must rest on the applicant's ability to become economically established in Canada and on their intention to reside in the nominating province
  4. 04Each province sets its own streams, occupation lists, work-experience and language requirements; the province alone evaluates them, and the federal officer then assesses admissibility

  1. 01Citizenship of a country or territory that has a youth mobility agreement with Canada — 36 of them for the 2026 season
  2. 02Age within the range set by your country's agreement: 18–30 for some, 18–35 for others
  3. 03A profile created in the IEC pool and an invitation to apply issued in a round of invitations for your country and category
  4. 04Health insurance covering medical care, hospitalisation and repatriation for the whole stay
  5. 05Proof of funds for the arrival period and a valid passport covering the length of the permit; some countries require a medical exam
  6. 06Not eligible if you hold a refugee travel document from any country

  1. 01A commitment from one or more designated entities — a venture capital fund, an angel investor group or a business incubator approved by the Minister — less than six months old when the permanent residence application is made
  2. 02An approved language test less than two years old showing at least benchmark level 5 in all four skills in English or French
  3. 03Transferable and available funds unencumbered by debt, at least the amount prescribed for the family size, excluding any investment by the designated entity
  4. 04Control of at least 33⅓% of the voting rights in the business, with the designated entity and the applicants together holding more than 50%
  5. 05An intention to reside in a province other than Québec
  6. 06As of the verification date the programme accepts only applicants who already hold a valid 2025 commitment certificate, and that window closed on 30 June 2026

  2. 02An intention and ability to be self-employed in Canada and to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of the country
  3. 03Assessment against the class selection criteria (experience, education, age, language ability, adaptability)
  4. 04An application that fails the class definition is refused with no further assessment
  5. 05Intake is paused as of the verification date
