Short stays under 180 days/year do not create Thai tax residency; only Thai-source income would be taxable. There is no official position permitting sustained remote work for foreign clients on a visa exemption — it is a tourism/business-visit status, a legal grey zone for ongoing work.

Modeled for the citizenship groups in our registry; the full MFA list has 93 countries/territories. Effective 15 July 2024, up to 60 days extendable by 30. A Cabinet decision of 19 May 2026 proposed scrapping the 60-day scheme (reverting most nationalities to 30 days), but as of early July 2026 the change had not been published in the Royal Gazette and the 60-day rule remains in force — to be re-verified. This is a visitor status, not a residence route, and gives no path to permanent residence.

Not a recurring-income test: a bank statement for the last 3 months with an ending balance of at least 500,000 THB (financial proof of funds), plus a salary slip / proof of monthly income for the last 6 months

Implicaciones fiscales:

Living in Thailand 180+ days in a calendar year makes the holder a Thai tax resident, taxed on Thai-source income and on foreign-source income remitted to Thailand in the year earned; foreign income kept offshore and not remitted that year is generally untaxed. The DTV itself confers no tax exemption.

Spouses and children under 20 of a DTV holder can obtain dependent DTVs. Not a residence permit and gives no path to permanent residence; it is a long-stay activity visa for remote work for foreign employers/clients or soft-power activities, not for working for a Thai employer.
